LIFE ON EARTH GOES ON
What a few years it's been. As we age, inevitably the bereavement increases - a byproduct of living long. Very recently, we lost Ying-Mei, swimming buddy and nurse extraordinaire; Steve "Pomo" Pomerantz, one of my very first tech colleagues in SF. Even now our good friend Bret Lyon is struggling with metastasized cancer. Ellen, Bill, Dad ... Add your own names to the list, you've had your losses, everyone does. That's what makes us human, this shared experience of sorrow and joy. As much as we'd like to pretend we're all so radically different, whether through the artifact of culture, breeding, or even sillier, politics, the truth is, our bodies and minds all have the same needs.
I know many of you are dealing with grief, elder care, the stress of work and business, the raising of children ... We all need a time-out. The one I offer you today is brief, a video recap of how amazingly well my mom is now doing, thanks to the systems we have put in place; and how chill we are managing to remain in this pleasant area of France. There's finally time to ruminate on the past eight months, and I'm realizing how exhausted and drained I am; but also relieved that we have created the kind of stay-at-home situation that makes my mother happy. Thanks for your support over the months. Every kind word, every kind gesture, every way in which you showed up big and small. We will back in October.
My token of gratitude:
Hugs and love to y'all.
